The workshop will introduce the Europeana Transcribathon Citizen Science platform and will demonstrate how to transcribe and enrich historical documents. You can then go hands-on into a Mini Run competition and start transcribing handwritten documents in the language of your choice. We will be there to help you with challenges in using the transcription tool. Everybody can take part in the mini run. Just register  here and start transcribing!

Razglednice koje je Antonio Bernetich slao kući s ratišta. || Otac Antonio Bernetich je išao u rat. Boravio je u Austriji, u St. Pöltenu, Grazu i Beču. Iz rata šalje razglednice kući na Krnjevo u Rijeci. Pisao je ženi Matejki, većinu kartolina ipak sinu Francescu, nekoliko i mlađoj kćeri Mariji koju zove Mimica. Sve je pisano na talijanskom jeziku, jer su Bernetichi bili Fiumani, pola Talijani pola Hrvati. Sin Francesco i sam biva regrutiran u 16. godini i odlazi na ratište u St. Polten odakle se cijelo vrijeme razglednicama javlja i njegov otac, Antonio. Sadržaji razglednica su uvijek u istom tonu: primio sam vašu razglednicu, nadam se da ste svi dobro, ja sam dobro, primite puno pozdrava, vidimo se uskoro. Ima nekoliko i čestitaka za blagdane (Uskrs). Razglednice su u većoj mjeri ilustrirane motivima s ratišta. Jedina sačuvana razglednica koja je upućena samom Antoniu, adresirana je na tvornicu torpeda u kojoj je Antonio radio prije rata. Poslao ju je njegov brat Johann, koji mu piše da je u Bosni, radi u plinskoj tvornici. S Johannovog ratišta pak nije stigla nikakva kartolina. Ne zna se je li poginuo. Ratne bojne dopisnice - Feldpost iz Prvog svjetskog rata

Ratne bojne dopisnice (Feldpost) bile su najfunkcionalnije sredstvo komuniciranja vojnika sa porodicom tokom Prvog svjetskog rata. Većinom su bile cenzurisane i na njima se nalazio pečat vojne cenzure, regimentalni pečat i pečat vojne pošte. Na velikom broju dopisnica nalazila su se sva tri pečata, međutim, nerijetko se nalazio samo jedan ili dva. Poznato je da su vojnici bili strogo kažnjavani ukoliko su svjesno pisali bilo šta što otkriva vojne tajne. Pisati su mogli samo vojnici. Sve što bi napisali davalo bi se vojnom cenzoru da to pregleda i tek kad on odobri moglo se poslati porodici. Čitajući pisma, može se uvidjeti da su ona poprilično štura, te da su dobro pazili o svemu šta je napisano, upravo iz razloga da bi izbjegli probleme sa nadređenim. Feldpost sistem Austro-ugarske Monarhije, omogućavao je vojnicima da komuniciraju sa svojim najbližima. Sačuvane razglednice i pisma pružaju lični pogled na to kako su pojedini vojnici doživljavali sukobe. || Devet bojnih dopisnica (Feldpost)

Dopisy s budoucí manželkou Marií - Dopisy s přáteli a rodinnými příslušníky - Dopisnice - lazaret v Brucku, Halič, Kutná Hora - Součástí krabička z Felt Post || Pan Skopal (roč. 1890?), učitel (pocházel z rodiny učitelů), narukoval v roce 1914 na frontu do Haliče - 8. pluk, v sestavě 7. divize společně s jihlavským 81. plukem. Brzy byl zraněn (7. 9. 1914), byl převezen do nemocnice v Kutné Hoře. Není jasné, zda se vrátil na frontu. Dopisy z Kutné hory budoucí manželce Marii nemusely procházet cenzurou, jsou přesné. Pravděpodobně byly poslány přes další osobu - např. sestřičku civilní poštou. V dopisech systém šifer - velmi cenné. V dopisech i kresba průstřelu nohy, aby si přátelé dokázali představit zranění. Uzdravil se, po válce působil jako učitel, byl aktivní v učitelských spolcích, hodnostář v Sokolu, úřední cenzor pro kino ve Vážanech u Rousínova. Měl dva syny a dceru. Zemřel nečekaně na počátku 30. let.

Deník psal Josef Hlaváček, který padl roku 1916 (K.u.k. Inf. Reg. Nr.17, M.G.A. II). Poprosil svého přítele František Zavadila, aby deník v případě jeho smrti předal jeho milé Blaženě Deponové. František Zavadil splnil přání svého přítele a deník po roce 1916 předal. Při této příležitosti se s Blaženou seznámili a v roce 1919 se vzali. Deník popisuje běžný život vojáků na frontě. Fotografie pana Hlaváčka. Letáček u příležitosti IV. mezinárodní jubilejního mistrovství střední Evropy ve zvedání břemen a zápase v roce 1911. Na fotografii je Josef Hlaváček 2. zprava. Předměty přinesl Jan Vávra, pana Františka Zavadila.

The Diaries of Baron Franz Nopcsa (1877-1933) | are housed at the Manuscript Collections of the National Library of Albania. The seven original volumes (six on Albania and one on Bulgaria) are unique items dating from 1905-1921. Baron Franz Nopcsa | renowned traveller and scholar of South-Eastern European studies focusing on the early decades of the twentieth century | palaeontologist and well-known scholar of Albanian studies | took various notes on numerous occasions while travelling to Albania and the Southern Balkans during the years 1903-1914. The six volumes (1905-1913) deal mostly with ethnography | folklore | geography | geology | history | Albanian customary law | etc. and present great historical and documentary value for the Albanian culture | as well as foreign researchers. Nopcsa’s contribution to the Albanian studies is an inherent part of our cultural and scientific heritage. The seventh volume (1921) contains travel notes on Bulgaria | detailed descriptions of Bulgarian uses and customs | way of life | as well as a history of the people. Nopcsa’s unpublished manuscripts contain drawings and accompanying texts penned during his journeys and expeditions in Upper Albania (1904-1914) and the Central Balkans (Bosnia | Kosovo | Macedonia | Serbia) | and present a wealth of valuable notes and pencil-drawn landscape sketches | travel routes | very rare and fascinating illustrations | without mentioning his records of travel expenses | summing up to a total of 3000 pages.

CAMMAER: Verhaal over grootouders Henri Cammaer en echtgenote (zie foto's). Grootvader was fourier in de oorlog en hij had de graad van sergeant-majoor. Hij was ook film-amateur. Hij maakte zelf filmpjes van allerlei gebeurtenissen waarbij onder andere slachtoffers van bombardementen op de Leuvensesteenweg en begrafenissen getoond werden. Verschillende filmpjes zijn nadien op dvd overgezet en afgegeven bij het archief van Mechelen. Aanbrenger bezit een foto van een kamp in Nederland waar de soldaten de was deden. Beide grootvaders dienden in Nederland tot 1919. Grootmoeder is begin 1918 overleden aan een hartaanval. Vader was een enig kind en 9 jaar oud toen hij op de trein gezet werd naar Scheveningen met een treinkaartje om de hals. Hij werd als 'wees' opgevangen door mensen in Den Haag tot vader uit oorlog de terugkwam. Grootvader heeft geleefd tot 1958. Over de oorlogsjaren werd thuis weinig verteld. Ook een oom heeft vier jaar aan het Ijzerfront gestreden maar vertelde daarover nooit. Grootvader Henri Cammaer was voordien garnierder. Het beroep werd voortgezet van vader op zoon. Een tweede grootvader is eveneens naar Nederland gegaan als attaché. Mertens, de latere schoonbroer van Cammaer was vrijwilliger in 1913. Hij was van de lichting van 1914. Corneel Mertens was 'agronome', een kriekenboer met een boomgaard. Na de oorlog trouwde hij met een vrouw uit een merceriezaak te Mechelen en hij heeft zich later ingekocht in een garage te Mechelen. Zij hadden geen kinderen. Er werden reeds verschillende voorwerpen geschonken aan het museum in Ieper.

Officier aan het Ijzerfront: Familie Van Dyck

Theo van Dyck was officier, onderluitenant, tijdens WOI. Hij maakte een dagboek van z’n ervaringen aan het front aan de Ijzer. In mei 1918 overleed hij tijdens oorlogshandelingen. Een kolonel hield een grafrede tijdens zijn begrafenis, die is vastgelegd in een brief en opgestuurd aan de familie. Na het verdelen van pamfletten door de Duitsers zou zijn regiment een barrage openen op de vijand. Bij de tegenreactie overleden veel mensen. Tijdens zijn dienstjaren zou hij verschillende eerbewijzen en benoemingen krijgen. Het verhaal werd verteld op onze Verhalendag in Antwerpen || Dagboek
