Transcribathon Cyprus

From Wednesday 31st October to Friday 2nd November 2018, an exciting transcription marathon took place during the EUROMED 2018 Conference in Nicosia, Cyprus. At the  Transcribathon Cyprus, participants competed in teams of three to four to transcribe and annotate specially-assigned documents from the First World War. Cypriot and international teams had 2 days' time to complete as much work on their documents as they could. On the last day, Friday 2nd November, a jury awarded winners in the categories transcription, annotation and presentation. Two members of the winning team won a trip to attend the European Transcribathon in Brussels on 26th -27th November 2018!

 

The Transcribathon Cyprus was held at the Filoxenia Conference Center, Nicosia, Cyprus and organised by Europeana, Facts & Files, the UNESCO CHAIR on Digital Cultural Heritage, the Cyprus University of Technology and the EU H2020 Virtual Multimodal Museum Project, in cooperation with the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture, the National Library of Cyprus, the National Committee on Digital Cultural Heritage and the Digital Champion and ICOMOS Cyprus.

 

Ο πρώτος Μαραθώνιος Μεταγραφής στην Κύπρο!

Πλήθος ανθρώπων έλαβε μέρος στο πρώτο Κυπριακό Transcribathon, που πραγματοποιήθηκε από την Τετάρτη 31 Οκτωβρίου 2018 έως την Παρασκευή 2 Νοεμβριου 2018 στο Συνεδριακό Κέντρο Φιλοξενία στη Λευκωσία. Κατά τη διάρκεια του Μαραθωνίου, οι συμμετέχοντες χωρίστηκαν σε μίκρες ομάδες με σκοπό να συναγωνιστούν στη μεταγραφή και στον σχολιασμό επιλεγμένων χειρόγραφων από τον Α' Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο. Ομάδες από την Κύπρο αλλά και από το εξωτερικό είχαν δύο ημέρες να ολοκληρώσουν όσο το δυνατόν περισσότερα έγγραφα. Την τελευταία ημέρα, Παρασκευή 2 Νοεμβρίου, η κριτική επιτροπή επέλεξε τους νικητές στις κατηγορίες Μεταγραφή, Σχολιασμός και Παρουσίαση. Δύο από τα μέλη της νικήτριας ομάδας είχαν τη χαρά να κερδίσουν ταξίδι στο Βέλγιο και να παρευρεθούν στο Ευρωπαϊκό Transcribathon στις Βρυξέλλες (26-27 Νοεμβρίου 2018).

 

Η εκδήλωση οργανώθηκε από το Europeana, Facts & Files, the UNESCO CHAIR on Digital Cultural Heritage, the Cyprus University of Technology and the EU H2020 Virtual Multimodal Museum Project σε συνεργασία με το Υπουργείο Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού, την Κυπριακή Βιβλιοθήκη, την Εθνική Κυπριακή Επιτροπή για την Ψηφιοποίηση της Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομίας και την Εθνική Κυπριακή Επιτροπή ΙΚΟΜΟΣ.
