An Autumn to Remember! The End of the Europeana 1914-1918 Centenary Tour

Our first stop is a Collection Day in Budapest on 15th September 2018, 10 am to 6 pm, to gather, digitise and upload personal documents from the Hungarian public to Europeana 1914-1918. The event will take place at the National Archives of Hungary and will be accompanied by a presentation on Transcribathon Europeana 1914-1918. Next will be the long-anticipated Transcribathon Historikertag Münster from 25th to 28th September 2018. As part of the 52nd Biennial Meeting of German Historians (Historikertag) in Münster, Germany, this special Transcribathon event is set to be our most challenging yet! A massive online competitive run is coming! The Centenary Run will be a 6-week long transcription marathon to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War. All documents that are worked from 1st October to 11th November 2018, including our specially-curated armistice selection, will be considered as part of the run. Transcribe and annotate in teams or individually to compete in this blockbuster Transcribathon against the rest of the online community! 8 - 12 Oct 2018

Our very first Italian Transcribathon will be held between the 8th and the 12th October 2018! Transcribathon Italia 2018 is organised in collaboration with the ICCU and will run as part of their Digital Innovation Week. The 4-day competition will be held in Rome at the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Roma. Transcribathon will also make an appearance in Nicosia, Cyprus at EUROMED 2018, the International Conference on Digital Heritage. The Transcribathon Cyprus will run from 31th October to 2nd November 2018 during the conference’s proceedings at the Filoxenia Conference Centre, Nicosia. This first Transcribathon in Cyprus will see multi-generational teams compete in an online transcription and annotation race. Europeana 1914-1918 Centenary Tour Finale

27 - 28 Nov 2018

Last, but absolutely not least, will be the Europeana 1914-1918 Centenary Tour Finale from 27th to 28th November 2018. This very special event will bring the Europeana 1914-1918 Centenary Tour 2018 to a resounding close. Hosted at the House of European History, Brussels, this international grand finale will bring together winners of Transcribathons from all over Europe for one last big hurrah! As the closing celebration of the Centenary Tour, the transcription competition will be accompanied by riveting array of panel discussions, performances and an exhibition on commemorating the First World War. Winners will be awarded special prizes from the European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Mariya Gabriel. With a completely international focus, this monumental event is not to be missed!
