A photograph of a British soldier and five children
A real photographic postcard.
The difference in colour between the soldier’s tunic and putties in the charming scene presented by this real photographic postcard is striking. Otherwise, there is nothing of note to observe about his uniform. He is surrounded by five youngsters, no doubt his children. The sole noteworthy printed detail on the reverse of the postcard is the code ‘G. / F. 7.’.

A British soldier | his wife and five children
1 Item
Five children posed with their parents for this family portrait. The smallest child was moving a little when the shutter fell, despite the steadying hand of his or her soldier–father, whose cap badge is indistinct. His other hand rests on the shoulder of his morose-looking wife. ‘Cissie’ has been written in pencil on the reverse of this real photographic postcard, but neither the family’s surname nor the name of the photographer’s studio that they visited is given. || A real photographic postcard || || A photograph of a British soldier and his family || Photograph
