A Scottish soldier's family photographed in 1916.

The printed information (cropped out) on the front of this postcard states that the pictured Scottish family of three posed for the photographer at the American Galleries, 259 Argyle Street, Glasgow. (Further information on the back tells us that the American Galleries also had branches at 7 Lime Street, Liverpool, England, and 17 High Street, Rhyl, Wales.) Four handwritten lines on the reverse supply the family’s names and the date when the photograph was taken: ‘Willie Hope / Bessie / & Baby Hope Duff / 1916’.

A soldier's family photographed in Blairgowrie

1 Item

The name of the photographer responsible for this charming photograph of two girls and their parents has been embossed in the bottom right-hand corner: ‘H J Rennie / Blairgowrie Perthshire, Scotland’. The single chevron on the girls’ soldier–father’s left sleeve tells us that he is a lance corporal. His brass shoulder title is visible, but unreadable. || A real photographic postcard. || || Photograph || A photograph of a soldier's family photographed in Blairgowrie
