Medals of John Huggins | Royal Dublin Fusiliers
John Huggins, born in 1885, was from 112 Evergreen Road, Cork City, Ireland. He joined the Royal Dublin Fusiliers in 1914 aged 27. He had served in another force - possibly earlier Cork militia - but had left. He served in France, was invalided home for 3 months, and was sent back to France. He was captured on 21 March. On 2 May his wife informed the local War Office that he was in a POW camp (camp not listed but likely Limburg where the Irish were mainly sent). He returned (released) on 2 October 1918. It is known whether this was on medical grounds. He was discharged on 9 February, 1919. He was married to Mary, from Cork.
