Medals of John Huggins | Royal Dublin Fusiliers

1 Item

John Huggins, born in 1885, was from 112 Evergreen Road, Cork City, Ireland. He joined the Royal Dublin Fusiliers in 1914 aged 27. He had served in another force - possibly earlier Cork militia - but had left. He served in France, was invalided home for 3 months, and was sent back to France. He was captured on 21 March. On 2 May his wife informed the local War Office that he was in a POW camp (camp not listed but likely Limburg where the Irish were mainly sent). He returned (released) on 2 October 1918. It is known whether this was on medical grounds. He was discharged on 9 February, 1919. He was married to Mary, from Cork. || World War I trio of medals
