A British soldier's family of six photographed in Coventry.

A photographic postcard.
Printed on the back of this photograph of a family of six is the name and address of the studio that produced it: ‘Photo by TAYLER Bros., Swanswell Studio, 20 Primrose Hill St., Coventry then in Warwickshire’. Four children and their parents posed for their family portrait. The soldier–father’s cap badge appears to be in the shape of an eight-pointed star, and may be that of the Army Service Corps. Both his cap and his wife’s hat suggest a date from 1917.

A British soldier's family of six photographed in south-east London.

1 Item

The printed information on the back of this photographic postcard informs us that the family of six pictured on the front visited a studio in south-east London in order to sit for their family portrait: ‘Portrait by Ed. Sharp, 221 Westminster Bridge Road, S.E.’, it states. The oldest boy has duplicate versions of his soldier–father’s cap badge and shoulder title pinned to his left lapel as sign of support, which confirm that his father was serving in the Army Service Corps when this photograph was taken. It looks as though his younger brother, who is standing between him and his father, is similarly wearing a cap badge and shoulder title on his right lapel. || A British photographic postcard. || || A photograph of a British soldier and his family. || Photograph

A British soldier's family of six

A real photographic postcard. || Although this family of six was clearly photographed in a studio, there are no written details on the postcard on which their group portrait was printed to identify it, or, indeed, the family. The soldier–father of the young girl and her three brothers wears a bandolier and white lanyard. || || A real photographic postcard of a British soldier and his family || Photograph
