The main part of the postcard is occupied by a boy, who has been photographed wearing a British Army officer’s uniform, albeit with his tunic undone and his cap pushed to the side. The printed information on the reverse states ‘112 Entirely British Manufacture.’.

A British patriotic postcard || A baby, with dummy and bib, and wearing a British soldier’s cap, has been portrayed on the front of this postcard, above the legend ‘Conscription / It’s good for you!’. The French text in the top and bottom left-hand corners reads, ‘La Conscription en Angleterre’ (‘Conscription in England’) / ‘Bon pour le Service!’ (‘Fit for service!’). The name of the artist who created this scene – S Hurley – appears under the ‘C’ of ‘Conscription’, while ‘Oilette’ can be discerned in the bottom right-hand corner.
