Feldpost der Brüder Georg und Carl Popp

Feldpostkarten der Brüder Georg und Carl Popp. || Georg Popp war gelernter Fotograf und fertigte Bilder von seinem Einsatz an der Westfront in Frankreich an. Die Bilder zeigen Motive vom Soldatenalltag, u.a. auch von einem Kriegslazarett in Le Quesnoy von Weihnachten 1916. Nach dem Krieg arbeitete er weiter als Fotograf in Leipzig. Er starb in den 1930er Jahren an einem Blinddarmdurchbruch. Seine Ehe blieb kinderlos. Sein Bruder Carl Popp sammelte einige Fotografien von Georg, von denen manche heute noch erhalten geblieben sind. Carl blieb unverheiratet. Er war ebenfalls an der Westfront eingesetzt und wie sein Bruder, überstand er den Krieg unverletzt. Carl war Buchhalter und übte diesen Beruf bis zur Rente aus. Er wohnte zeitlebens bei seiner Schwester Charlotte. Fotografien von Carl aus der Kriegszeit sind kaum überliefert. Die Ähnlichkeit zum Bruder ist verblüffend, Carl trug jedoch im Unterschied zu seinem Bruder eine Brille. Insgesamt waren es fünf Geschwister, drei Schwestern und die zwei Brüder. Zwischen Georg Popp und dem Rest der Familie gab es später kaum Kontakt. Die Gründe dafür sind unbekannt.
