I've been searching for information ever since and I got this - I think it is his service card. I also went to Belgium with my wife to visit his grave. I thought it important that his family acknowledge his sacrifice. I also penned this poem in his memory. || My grand father Patrick and his brother Thomas Durr were from Elphin in Roscommon and they fought in the great War. Sadly Thomas died in September 1918. He is buried in Wulverghem in Belgium, he was Acting Sergeant at the time of his death. He died with 8 other soldiers of the Royal Irish rifles. I knew nothing of him, until I was researching my family tree. I put a request for information in the Roscommon Chronicle. A neighbour of Toms remembered how both my grandfather and Thomas went off to the War, both fine young men, Tom was 23 when he killed.
