A British sentimental postcard
This postcard shows a pensive boy, pen in hand, sitting at a table in front of a photograph of a British soldier. Inset above is a larger photograph of a British soldier. The scene is entitled ‘A Loving Greeting for Xmas’, and the verse below reads: ‘Dear Dad I feel I can’t do better / Than write to you a little letter / Just my love for you to tell / And hopes it finds you safe and well.’. A message pencilled in a childish hand on the reverse of the postcard reads: ‘to Daddy from Fred with love’. The typeset information states, ‘Printed in England’. / No. 311.’ and ‘M.B. Series’.

A British sentimental postcard. || This black-and-white postcard depicts a small girl gazing at the framed photograph that she holds before her, while her mother places a loving arm around her. Some knitting lies on the table. An inset photograph of soldier is shown apparently gazing down on the pair. The following verse, headed ‘A loving message.’, has been printed above the mother’s head, and reads, ‘We think of you so often, / For you we always pray, / And you’re always in our thoughts / Although you’re far away.’ ‘All British Production’, ‘Series No 486-5’ and ‘PRINTED IN ENGLAND’ appear on the back of the postcard. || || Postcard || A British sentimental postcard entitled 'A loving message'.
'Loving comrades'

Beneath this photograph of a small boy and his father, both wearing kilts and holding rifles, are the lines: ‘Loving comrades, faithful and true, / Willing and ready to dare and to do; / A soldier he’d be, helping dad in his need, / A boy of the trusty old bulldog breed.’. The postmark on the reverse of the postcard tells us that it was posted on 9 February 1918. There is a handwritten name and address: ‘Mrs Booker ? / “Burlingham House” / Atkins Road / Balham / London’, and a message, which reads: ‘Saturday dinner time / I have just received box with thanks. I will write in a day or two, hoping you are all quite well, from Charlie’. Morsdag greeting || || Jenny Nyström (1854 - 1946) Jenny Nyström är Kalmarflicka som for till Paris och som blev en av Sveriges mest folkkära illustratörer. Honär känd som mamma till den styrande tomten i Viktor Rydbergs version, men framför allt till den snälle julklappstomten. Som illustratör var hon mycket produktiv och det finns tusentals bilder av hennes hand. Att hon samtidigt var en mycket duktig konstnärinna med gedigen akademisk utbildning både från konstakademien i Stockholm och från de främsta akademierna i Paris, kanske inte varit så väl känt.
