Tekening met een lied opgeschreven.
In april 2012 schonk Denise Dael vijf tekeningen aan het museum waarop een soldatenlied geschreven staat. Het lied gaat als volgt: (1) Far away, where the Yser flows. In Flanders where they die. Above the crosses, shines who knows. As a guiding star in the sky. The silent spirit of Him who rose.(2) A silent hope springs from above. O land of joy in peaceful hours. Though ruined, yet thou still art ours. And still our hearts behold thy love.(3) The sky was blood-colour dyed. In the wild up coming tide. Fiercely along moved the stream. And with songs in their soul. And rage in their speed. They wend towards the stream. And one by one died. That the land might be freed.(4) The sun sets red above the field. Where with wound at heat. A son of Flanders lies. And dying still he cries. Belgium it is for you that I depart.(5) O Cross! O shield of love. At even still with us abide. Be thou the sign sent from above.
