A British soldier's family photographed in west London.

Stamped on the back of this real photographic postcard is a number – ‘96500’ – and the name and address of the photographic studio that produced it: ‘CAMPBELL GRAY, PHOTO, 88 EDGEWARE ROAD, W London’. Posing solemnly with their parents, the two army children in the photograph appear to be teenagers. Their soldier–father’s uniform looks well worn; it is not possible to make out the details of his circular cap badge.

A British soldier's family of six photographed in south-east London.

1 Item

The printed information on the back of this photographic postcard informs us that the family of six pictured on the front visited a studio in south-east London in order to sit for their family portrait: ‘Portrait by Ed. Sharp, 221 Westminster Bridge Road, S.E.’, it states. The oldest boy has duplicate versions of his soldier–father’s cap badge and shoulder title pinned to his left lapel as sign of support, which confirm that his father was serving in the Army Service Corps when this photograph was taken. It looks as though his younger brother, who is standing between him and his father, is similarly wearing a cap badge and shoulder title on his right lapel. || A British photographic postcard. || || A photograph of a British soldier and his family. || Photograph

A soldier's family photographed in West London

1 Item

This family portrait has been mounted on a beige-coloured card on which is printed the name and address of the photographic studio that produced it: ‘Chas. H. Skillman, 156, Uxbridge Rd., London, W. possibly Ealing’. The family comprises a soldier–father and his wife, who is holding a baby dressed in a christening gown. Standing between his parents, his arm linked with his father’s, is the baby’s older brother, whose sister perches on the arm of their father’s chair. Their soldier–father’s uniform is notable for its black buttons. || A studio photograph || || Photograph || A studio portrait of a British soldier and his family
