A British soldier's family of three photographed in Leicester

A British soldier's family photographed in Leicester || Embossed in the bottom right-hand corner of this photographic postcard is the following information: ‘C B Stanley / 11 Cedar Road / Leicester’. Although the photographer is thus identified, there is no written information to help us identify the family who went to his studio to be photographed. The soldier–father’s military unit is certain, however, for not only does the badge on both sleeves proclaim his proficiency as a medical orderly, but his wife and son are both wearing the cap badge of the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC), with the rod of Aesculapius at its centre: she wears it as a sweetheart brooch at her throat, while the boy is sporting a larger badge on his lapel. || || Leicester || Photograph

A soldier's family of three photographed in Skipton.

1 Item

The name of the photographic studio that produced this postcard is printed on the reverse: ‘C. &. S. Kestin, Photographers, Skipton then in the West Riding of Yorkshire’. The photograph is of a family of three. It is difficult to make out the badge on the soldier–father’s cap, on the table, but its shape indicates that it may be the King’s Own (Yorkshire Light Infantry)’s cap badge. || || A soldier's family of three photographed in Skipton || Photograph || Skipton, West Riding of Yorkshire
