Patrick Langdon

Family portrait showing Patrick Langdon, his wife Mary, and their children John Thomas, Nora, Peter and Anthony; Medal, marked Corporal 5344
Corporal Patrick Langdon (5344) was in the Connaught Rangers. Born in Galway, Ireland in 1889, he was living at Spanish Parade in 1901 but was no longer there in 1911. He contracted malaria in the forces in WW1. He was a pensioner after the war, and traded in his pension for funeral costs about a year before his death in 1937. He is pictured here with his family: wife Mary and children, John Thomas (father of contributor, born 1909), Nora, Peter and baby Anthony. The family lived in Adiwell outside Edinburgh, but returned to Mayo, Ireland in the 1920s.
