The Jarman family | 1916

1 Item

A family of four are pictured on the front of this charming real photographic postcard: a soldier serving in the Royal Artillery; his wife, and their children. A handwritten note on the back states, ‘The Whole D. ? family / Feb 1916’. Pencilled below in a different hand is ‘George & Annie Jarman Nee Higgs / Dorothy & Kenneth’. The 1911 census for Abingdon, Berkshire (now in Oxfordshire), has George Jarman, aged 31, a harness-maker, living with his wife, Annie, aged 31, and their daughter, Dorothy Cecily Jarman, aged 1, with Annie’s mother and brother. Dorothy’s birth was registered in 1910, and Kenneth’s, in 1913. || A real photographic postcard portraying a British soldier and his family || || Photograph || Front || A photograph of the Jarman family
