Die ersten Seiten des Familienalbums dokumentieren in Bildern die Geschichte von Sophie Kiel (1888-1965) und ihrer unehelichen Tochter Sophia (*1920). Der Vater von Sophia ist ihren Nachkommen nicht bekannt, da Sophias uneheliche Geburt in der Familie stets ein Tabuthema darstellte. Wahrscheinlich handelte es sich bei dem Vater aber um einen deutschen Soldaten.
