Feldpostkarte von Andreas Kettner vom 1. März 1915 an den Kath. Gesellenverein in Riedenburg: „Grüße aus dem Unterstand im Schützengraben. Kettner diente bei der 6. Königlich Bayerischen Infanteriedivision. Am 2. August 1916 geriet er in Verdun in französische Kriegsgefangenschaft, aus der er am 29. Oktober 1916 fliehen konnte. Er kehrte zu seiner Truppe an die Front zurück, wofür er mit dem Eisernen Kreuz 1. Klasse und einer Beförderung zum Unteroffizier ausgezeichnet wurde.
