A British sentimental postcard || There are three elements to this postcard: the main image of a kneeling girl praying by her bed; a smaller head-and-shoulders portrait of a British soldier smoking a pipe; and a verse. Headed ‘Thinking of You’, the verse reads: ‘This little card is sent, my Daddy dear to say, / How very oft we think of you, now you’re so far away. / Ten hundred thousand kisses are not enough I know, / And still I think I’ll send them, for you, my love to show.’. A British postcard. || A girl is pictured on the front of this postcard beneath a vignette of a soldier. Above her head is the legend ‘Thinking of You’. The following words can be read beneath her chair: ‘Daddy dear, you’re far away, / The wicked cruel foe fighting, / So just to show I think of you / This tiny note I’m writing.’ According to the printed information on the back of the postcard, it was ‘Printed in England. / No. 310’, and was part of the ‘M.B.
