A British sentimental postcard. || Two scenes make up the visual element of this postcard, printed, as the typeset information on the back tells us, in England by ‘BAMFORTH & CO., LTD., PUBLISHERS HOLMFIRTH (ENGLAND) AND NEW YORK’. An additional detail is ‘SERIES NO. 4860/2’, which, along with the numbered title printed on the front of the card, indicates that it is the second in the ‘When Daddy Comes Home’ series. In the main scene, a girl and her mother are shown apparently conversing. The vignette above them portrays the mother presiding over a table set for tea, with the girl sitting on her soldier–father’s lap.
