A British soldier's family of three.
A photograph of a British soldier's family of three.
The small boy perched on a chair at the centre of this photograph wears a Peter Pan collar and rests his hand on his mother’s shoulder for support. The uniform worn by his soldier–father looks relatively new, and no badges are discernable to help us identify his unit. There are no details on the reverse of the card to help us to name the family either, nor the photographic studio that they visited in order to have this photographic portrait taken.

A British soldier's family of three.

Flanked by her parents, the small girl at the centre of this family photograph rests her hand on her soldier–father’s arm for support. The rings on her mother’s wedding finger are prominent, but it is impossible to make out any distinguishing details of her father’s shoulder title. There is nothing on the reverse to tell us who this little family is, or where the photograph was taken. || A photograph of a British soldier's family. || || A photograph of a British soldier's family of three. || Photograph

A photograph of a British soldier, his wife and daughter. || The small girl at the centre of this photograph must have wriggled a little while it was being taken, for her face, beneath her large hair bow, is slightly blurred. Her mother’s jewellery, including her wedding ring, is evident, unlike her soldier–father’s shoulder titles; he wears a 1914-pattern belt, with its ‘S’-shaped buckle. Neither the name of the family nor that of the photographer is given on the reverse. || || Photograph || A photograph of a British officer's family of three.

Neither the photographer’s name nor the family members’ names have been recorded anywhere on this real photographic postcard. Although the details of the small girl’s soldier–father’s cap badge are not that clear, it seems to match that of the Royal Engineers. || A real photographic postcard || || A British soldier, his wife and child || Photograph
