Certificate of confirmation issued on 16th July 1918 in the XXI Corps Church Tent by the Bishop of Jerusalem

I have two letters written during the war: one was sent to my father, Charles Carrick in Donegal from by Great Grandfather, Thomas Sayers who lived in Philadelphia, U.S.A. Charles was 12 years old. The letter refers to a good harvest and the winter weather mentioning influenza...but there is no mention of the war. I have the envelopes from the letters and both were stamped by the Censor. A British sentimental postcard || A pyjama-garbed boy posed beneath the legend ‘Praying for Father.’ is the main subject of this black-and-white postcard. He is depicted kneeling, his elbows resting on the seat of a chair, and his hands steepled together as though in prayer. Inset above is a head-and-shoulders portrait of a British soldier.
