An Army Service Corps British soldier's family

There is nothing written on the front or back of this real photographic postcard to tell us who the family of four pictured on the front may be, or which photographer’s studio they visited so that the two boys could be photographed with their parents. Their father is wearing a British soldier’s uniform, and his visible ‘ASC’ shoulder title tells us that he was serving in the Army Service Corps.

A British soldier's family.

1 Item

This studio portrait has been printed on a postcard back, whose printed information includes the details ‘British Made’ and ‘1045’. A young girl, dressed smartly in white, stands next to her seated mother and in front of her soldier–father. Her mother’s hatpin and jewellery are notable, particularly the brooch pinned to her collar and the heart-shaped locket that hangs below it. The ring on her soldier–father’s wedding finger is also discernible, as is a dark lanyard. His cap badge appears to be that of the Essex Regiment. || A real photographic postcard || || Photograph || A photograph of a British soldier and his family

A real photographic postcard || There is nothing on this real photographic postcard to tell us who the pictured family of six are, or who produced this faded photograph. Three girls perched on a bench in front of a stone wall in order to be photographed, with their brother standing behind them, flanked by their parents. The cross within a circular badge on their soldier–father’s right sleeve indicates that he had qualified as a medical orderly. || || A photograph of a British soldier and his family || Photograph
