1916 French decorative trench art souvenir of Serbia

Trench art shell
This is a decorative trench art shell casing with the symbol of the French Armee d'Orient, a half crescent moon and star, and also the year of 1916. There is also the text 'SOUVENIR DE SERBIE' on the other half of the casing. At the bottom side of the shell, the 'A RS' indicates that the original shell, before being fired and re-used as trench art, was manufactured by the French firm Atelier de Construction de Rennes, the Construction Workshop of Rennes. The '16' indicates the year of manufacture, 1916, and the '65' the calibre, which was 65MM.

French inkwell || A French-made trench art inkwell from the Salonika Front. This inkwell is made from part of a shell casing, which has been cut and stamped decoratively. On the top, in French, is the text 'Campagne 1914 1915 1916 1917 1918', and the text 'Souvenir D'Orient' is toward the bottom. At the front are the owner's initials and at the top opening to the inkwell, for inserting an ink pen, is a Serbian coin, which has been attached so that it can be pivoted open when required and can be closed at other times.

Pair of decorative, trench art crosses. || This is a pair of decorative French-made, trench art crosses, likely made in the vicinity of the Salonika Front. They are in the form of a pair of 37MM shell casings with, on top of each, a cruciform pair of bullets. One shell casing has the word 'SERBIE', and the other has 'MACEDOINE'. At the time, Macedonia was a southern province of Serbia. The February 2015, 'AVE' headstamping on one of the bullets indicates that it was manufactured by Cartoucherie de Valence - Cartridge Factory of Valence - in the French commune of Bourg-les-Valence, and the January 1916, 'ATE' headstamping on the other bullet indicates that is was manufactured by Atelier de Fabrication de Toulouse - Manufacturing Workshop of Toulouse - in the French city of Toulouse.
