A British soldier's family marks a christening

1 Item

There are no handwritten or printed details on this real photographic postcard to tell us who the family of six pictured are, or who photographed them in a garden setting in an unspecified location. The occasion is clear from the baby’s long white gown, however: its christening. The baby’s siblings and mother are also dressed in festive white clothes for the occasion. Their soldier–father’s uniform, by contrast, looks rather creased. The single chevron on his sleeves indicates that he is a lance corporal. The details of his shoulder titles are indistinct. || A real photographic postcard || || Photograph || A photograph of a British soldier and his family marking a christening

A photograph of a boy – Jack Pharoh?

1 Item

A name has been written by hand in blue ink on the back of this real photographic postcard: ‘Jack Pharoh’. Presumably that is the name of the boy who smiles out at us from the front. He is wearing an unbuttoned British soldier’s tunic and cap. The details of his cap badge are difficult to discern. || A real photographic postcard. || || A photograph of a boy, maybe named Jack Pharoh || Jack Pharoh ? || Photograph
