This is a studio photographic portrait of Temporary Second Lieutenant Theophilus Garfield Skyrme in his Rifle Brigade (The Prince Consort's Own) uniform taken around 1915. 2nd Lieutenant Skyrme served with the 13th (Service) Battalion the Rifle Brigade between February and November 1916 on the Somme. He was wounded at the Battle of the Ancre and subsequently lost his leg to gangrene. Theophilus Garfield Skyrme is my maternal great-grand father.
