J McKeown & P Hennessey
Private J McKenna, ACO 2nd Leinster Regiment A Company. Served in India, and possibly South Africa. shipped home to the Curragh and camped under canvas before being sent to France. Survived the war and lived in a Soldiers Home in Scotland, visiting Ireland regularly until his death in 1970s.
Private Patrick Hennessey, Leinster Regiment, no 1322 joined up with a friend at Sackville Barracks, now Collins Barracks and sent to Aldershot and then to France. Friend he joined with died in 1st year of war. Patrick lost an eye in the fighting and was sent to hospital in Scotland. returned to service in the Labour Corps. Returned home and joined the family business of coach painters, then work at the Curragh for ESB. Died in 1963. He told the family that he was terrified of rats, and ocassionally when he was drunk he would climb onto roof of cottage thinking he was on sniper duty.
Leinster Regimental crest embroidered on linen, worked on while he was in hospital in Scotland following the loss of his eye.

Soldier's Small Book with photograph of German soldiers in a trench pasted into the back. || This 'Soldier's Small Book' belonged to J J Wingfield of the 13th Yorks and Lancasters. It contains advice for soldiers such as how to salute a superior officer and allows space for personal details. In the back on the book is pasted a photo of German soldiers in a trench with an anti-aircraft gun. Jakob Eugen Schenk (geb. 15.01.1894 in Wildenstein, gefallen 24.11.1917 Langemark/Belgien). Rufname Eugen. Bruder von Hugo Friedrich Schenk. Erinnerungsfoto von Eugen in Uniform (entstanden in Stuttgart). Rückseite Andenken an das Kriegsjahr 1916 von deinem Schwager Eugen. Da dieses Foto aus dem Nachlass von meinen Urgroßeltern Hugo Schenk und Katharina (Käthe) Schenk geb. Mangold stammt, ist diese Widmung sicherlich für Eugens Schwägerin Käthe (damals noch in Gonsenheim wohnhaft) gedacht gewesen. Laut Volksbund Dt. Kriegsgräberfürsorge ist ein Eugen Schenk (Todesdatum 24.11.1917) in Langemark/Belgien in einem Kameradengrab begraben. Todesdatum stimmt mit den Angaben von seinem Neffen Wilhelm Schenk in den 1920er Jahren überein. Damit liegt Eugen Schenk auf der Kriegsgräberstätte Langemark in Belgien nahe franz. Grenze.
