‘Les exploits d’un heros de 15 ans’

Here are a couple of examples of the weekly French fiction magazine aimed at younger readers, ‘Les exploits d’un heros de 15 ans’, which translates as ‘The Exploits of a 15-year-old Hero’. Each issue had a cover illustration of a soldier of one of the Allied armies, and the intention was to encourage the reader to cut-and-paste each illustration into an album so as to build a collection. The examples shown are of issue 30 and 31, which respectively showed on their covers illustrations of a Serbian infantry officer and a Serbian volunteer. Oddly, in the text, for issue 31, it refers to uniform number 28 when it should match the cover and be 31. The Serbian Army did have volunteers, but they also had a Serbian Volunteer Division, which was created in 1916. || Two ‘Les exploits d’un heros de 15 ans’ magazines
