My name is Catherine Smyth - niece of Charles Patrick Flanagan who served in the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. He was born on 12/5/1895 and died on 2/6/1926. I possess his medal, photographs of him in uniform and letters which he wrote from France in 1915 to his sister, Agnes. I also have letters sent from his base in Oxford. This letter refers to the Sinn Féin situation in Dublin. Charles later served in the Irish Air Force when the Irish Free State was formed. (He was sometimes known as O'Flanagan).

Two photographs of Percy Bufton in uniform, probably taken in Llandrindod Wells, possibly in Dyffryn Road: they seem to have been taken at the same time as the photo of him with Emlyn James (not Jones) at http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu/en/europeana/record/15601/93A90A6ECAFF7D4147EFF30F4A9B1B8A5112BFCC. Emlyn James was on leave in August 1918, which might date the photos to that month. One photo of Percy Bufton with three unidentified men, in front of a plane: and close-up of the same photo to show more detail. || In 1911 Percy Bufton was an auctioneer's clerk living with his parents James and Mary Bufton and brother James at Caerhyn, Dyffryn Road, Llandrindod Wells. He enlisted in the Montgomeryshire Yeomanry in 1915, where he held the rank of Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant, and subsequently transferred to the Royal Flying Corps. He returned to the Royal Air Force in the Second World War in the Administrative and Special Duties branch. || || Percy Bufton in uniform, probably taken in Llandrindod Wells, possibly in Dyffryn Road: they seem to have been taken at the same time as the photo of him with Emlyn James (not Jones) at http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu/en/europeana/record/15601/93A90A6ECAFF7D4147EFF30F4A9B1B8A5112BFCC.
