Arthur How (born 1890?) was from Freckenham, Suffolk, England and was grandfather of the contributor (Jacqueline Ward). He was in the 12th Suffolk Regiment and took part in the Battle of the Somme. He was transferred to the R.F.C. during the war. The photos feature him and his unit. Albert Holmes was killed in World War 1. No story submitted

Arthur Hade

Arthur Hade was my Grandfather. After the war he was released and became a prison warden. He trained as a carpenter, made coffins and worked for Pierpoint. The cigarette box saved his life at the Battle of Neuve Chapelle on the 26th of October 1914. Arthur Lewis

Arthur Lewis was from Derby, and later lived in St Alban's. He was part of a cavalry regiment that was formerly part of the Light Brigade. He survived the War and died in the 1970s.
