Szymon Szulc - my great-grandfather
My great-grandfather Szymon Szulc was born in Cracow, Poland in 1888. He was drafted into the Austro-Hungarian army in the beginning of the war in 1914. One of the photos I would like to add was taken in that time. While in army he was diagnosed with the TB and spent some time in a military hispital in Jičín, Bohemia. From there, on Feb. 16th 1915 he sent a photo postarcd home to his father - Józef Schulz, saying he was all right and alive. In the photo he is the one sitting in the front row in the left. After leaving the hospital he went to Vienna where he worked in the Ministry of War. The third photo - also sent as a postcard - was taken sometime later during the war. Szymon Szulc is first from the left.

After having been diagnosed with the TB and having spent some time in a military hospital, my great-grandfather, Szymon Szulc, went to Vienna where he worked in the Ministry of War until the end of his military service. The picture (a fragment of a postcard) must have be taken sometime between 1916 and 1918. A postcard was sent to Leńcze near Cracow to his cousin - Adam Zurzycki.
