My Great-uncle's letter
This is a letter sent by John's brother-in-law, Private John Byrne, to his sister Polly, my grandmother and John Graham's wife. He wrote it before being shipped out to the Dardanelles in the Y.M.C.A. base in Youghal, Co. Cork in 1915. Interestingly, he states that he had the choice to stay working for home defense in Youghal but he wanted to get out and also get paid.
