A patriotic postcard || A boy wearing a sailor suit, hands on knees, gazes resolutely out at us from the front of this photographic postcard, above the legend ‘ “THEY’LL NEVER PASS US.” ‘ Printed on the reverse, on the left-hand side of the postcard, is the following verse: ‘A LOVING BIRTHDAY WISH. / …… / To-day is your Birthday ! / O, may you enjoy it, / ’Til all of its moments / are counted and o er, / May luck be your lot, and / may nothing destroy it, / Through years that hold / dozens of Birthdays / in store.’. ‘From’ is printed beneath that, and ‘Auntie Maud’ has been written in black ink alongside it, the handwritten message continuing, ‘with all sic to all I will get you something when I come home Auntie Maud’. She has addressed the postcard to ‘Master B. Turner / c/o Mrs R. ? Turner / Hants Hill / Horsford / Nr Norwich in Norfolk’. The postmark tells us that it was posted in ‘Brixton S.W. London’ on 23 August 1915. The printed text states, ‘Published by Solomon Bros. Ltd., / Graphic House, New North Road, London.’ / ‘SB Series’ / ‘Series No. 114’. || || Postcard || A British patriotic postcard
