Christmas Truce signatures

1 Item

On 25.12.1914 Bernard wrote in his diary I have also a number of Germ signatures and addresses on a fly leaf of my “Active Service Pay Book” and it was arranged that at the end of the War we would write one to the other if we came through safely. Bernard framed the page of German signatures and hung them on the wall at his home. In 2009, the page was auctioned by Bonhams for £1,080, but the family has no record of when it became separated from the rest of the documents and its present whereabouts is unknown.
